6.1 Earthquake Shakes San Jose, Costa Rica

And we're back in Action with a SHAKE, Rattle and roll...

So we've been a bit absent from the site for the past month as we all took a little time off and did some traveling over the Holidays... but today, as Marina mentioned above, we were literally rattled back to life.

An earthquake of 6.1 on the Richter scale rattled the Central Valley and many parts of Costa Rica this afternoon (January 9, 2009 a little before 2pm CST) I personally did not feel anything here in Puerto Jimenez, but I heard about it immediately as Marina popped into my chat and told me about her crazy experience.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the  tremor struck 22 miles (35 kilometers) northwest of San Jose, at a depth of 28 miles (35 kilometers). According to a Guatemalan news channel, the preliminary damages have been reported as broken windows and structural damage to some churches. We will fill you on more details as they come in.

But as far as MuchaCostaRica is concerned....Get ready for lots of blog posts from Marina's travels as she's been busy traveling all over the country. Plus, I've got lots of new videos to post. Stay tuned... we are gearing up for an exciting 2009!
