Rescue Centers Coming to the Rescue

Monday, October 13, 2008

Contrary to what people think, Costa Rica does not have an animal rescue or rehabilitation center on every corner. However, it does have ZooAve! Beautifully designed and well planned out, the center focuses mainly on birds (aves) with a few mammals and amphibians scattered around the peaceful trails.

ZooAve

The staff at ZooAve has worked hard at saving hundreds of injured birds, mammals and even reptiles and amphibians. The ones that they release are not exposed to the public; the ones that can't be released are living a cozy life in their over-sized, well maintained cages.

The center is located ten minutes from the San Jose International Airport in La Garita, Alajuela and is a great top-over before heading to your chosen destination.
