Day 4 ~ Las Orchidias B&B & the Night Tram
I opened my eyes to another beautiful day on the farm! We started the morning off with an invigorating yoga practice in the grassy field outside our rooms. Saying good bye and thank you to Gaudi, we packed our belongings and moved on to our last hotel stay in Santa Elena
at Las Orchidias.
Upon arriving at Las Orchidias, I was immediately greeting by the owner Nadia, who was so nice and friendly. Our room was huge and half was separated by a wall and door, so it was almost like two rooms in one. The walls were a warm beautiful wood and the beds were a plenty! The grounds were neatly landscaped and they have a deck that extends out into a deep valley with a view of two waterfalls, Santa Elena off to the left and the Gulf of Nicoya to the right.
We even got a glimpse of a rainbow to perfect this magical view!
The hotel is in a great location! They have a kitchen that the guests can use and a dining area where a free breakfast is served every morning. There is also a small lounge area with a television and rocking chairs, and everywhere is equipped with WiFi. The owners live on site so they are always around to offer any help you might need.
Tonight Eric and I went on a guided night tram tour. If it wasn’t for our guide, Elvis, we might not have seen anything on our own. It’s a little difficult to see at night with only one flashlight each. The tram was slow moving and uneventful for me, but it was super relaxing and informative. In terms of it being uneventful, that's just the nature of nature, we couldn’t make the animals come out and pose for pictures…its just the luck of the draw.
We did get to stop and climb a tree though!
We were famished after the tour, who
knows why because all we did was sit! We decided to go for a nice meal since it was our last night in Monteverde. I chose Morphos, which is a well known restaurant in Santa Elena, appropriately decorated with butterflies everywhere! The sea bass in avocado sauce was to die for!
I found my friends later that night who gave us directions to my favourite tree that I had so easily forgotten how to get to. With the directions secured for our adventure the next day, we retired to Las Orchidias for a good nights rest in a beautiful comfortable room!
