Corcovado Day Hiking Tours (San Pedrillo & Sirena)
Waterfalls and beaches, birds and mammals, orchids and sea turtles, Corcovado National Park has it all. The plant and wildlife diversity is mind-boggling. There are 13 distinct vegetation types and more than 25 distinct ecosystems in Corcovado supporting endangered plant and animal species, some of which are not found anywhere else in the world .
In a nut shell: Corcovado is most famous for its pristine forests and unusually high level of biodiversity and for its large population of Scarlet Macaws, wild cats and tapirs. Join us on a day eco tour to see some of it for yourself!
We offer guided day trips to Corcovado National Park to either San Pedrillo
Station or Sirena . All our naturalist guides speak Spanish and English and are very
friendly. Most have grown up in the vicinity and have a wealth of
knowledge about the park and its many wonders, not to mention eagle eyes for spotting wildlife.
These are full day tours starting early in the am, and returning to Drake or Sierpe by 3pm or 4pm. Our arrival at the beach in San Pedrillo and Sirena is a wet landing, so bring your sandals in
addition to sturdier footwear for hiking the trails. It is not permitted to hike in sandals or other open-toed shoes.
For overnight (multi-day) trips and for guided hiking expeditions from Puerto Jimenez, please contact us for more info.
Wildlife and Biodiversity:
“The diversity of ecological systems found on the Osa (Peninsula) is not exceeded by any area of comparable size on earth”!
~ Dr. Larry Gilbert of the University of Texas
The boat trip offers possible sightings of dolphins and other marine
life including whales and several species of pelagic birds, plus
crocodiles, toucans, caimans and other mangrove wildlife if you are
coming from Sierpe.
The rich biological diversity found in Corcovado National Park is
astounding, and sightings may include as many as 4 species of monkey,
coatis, sloths, anteaters, and much more. Bird lovers will be enchanted
by a wide variety of birds including tanagers, flycatchers,
kingfishers, manakins, trogons, crested guans, toucans and the spectacular
