Whitewater Rafting Day Trips from San Jose
Costa Rica is a world class whitewater rafting and kayaking destination. With mountainous terrain and plenty of rainfall, the rivers in Costa rica are always ready to take you for a ride. Whether it be a mellow safari float or class V rapids, you'll always have a fun adventure in the water.
We offer several rafting trips that range from half-day to full-day trips. Some tours are especially great for families, but please check the minimum age requirements if you have children under the age of 13.

Option 1: Sarapiqui River o El Carmen Rafting Class II-III
Surrounded by low land tropical rain forest, this river basin holds a wide variety of wildlife, birds, insects and plants. The Sarapiquí River offers some of best wildlife viewing opportunities and its rapids are moderate class II-III, making it the perfect adventure for families with children.
Schedule:
Trips depart daily from both Arenal and San Jose. Full day tour lasts 7 - 11 hours.
Pick-up time is early morning, it takes about 1.5 hours to get to the put-in (from either Arenal or San Jose), the actual rafting time is 2.5 hours

Option 2: Reventazon / Pejibaye River Rafting Tour Class II-III
Enjoy a tranquil scenic day on the river as we float for about three hours through coffee and sugar cane plantations and by forests filled with wildlife. This trip is great for families with small children or for those who want a relaxing river float.
No experience is necessary.

Option 3: Pacuare River Rafting Class III-IV
The Pacuare River is the perfect blend of nature and adventure. With lots of rapids (52 in all!), the Pacuare River offers some of the best whitewater in all of Costa Rica. This rafting trip will pass through the Pacuare River Gorge and by the beautiful 150' Huacas Waterfall.
The trip begins with class II - III rapids for the first 40 minutes or so, then it gets fun with class III - IV rapids as we pass thru the Pacuare Gorge. The last bit of the river is wider, so it's a bit more mellow and this is where wildlife viewing is the best. Toucans, monkeys, hummingbirds and many other animlas are commonly seen.
There is a place to change into dry clothes before your return trip home.

Option 4: Toro River Whitewater Rafting Class III-IV - Adventure Connection
This is an action packed trip with sixteen kilometers of class III - IV rapids. We will paddle thru more than 45 continuous rapids as we pass by waterfalls and deep canyon gorges. Wildlife like sloths, monekys, toucans and more are commonly spotted along the way, especially during the river-side picnic lunch.
Rafters do not need experience but should be in good physical condition and know how to swim.
There is a place to change into dry clothes before your return trip home.

It is an 16 kilometer run, the actual rafting time is more than 2.5
hours. Pick-up time is early morning.
